Women’s Hairstyle and Haircut Trends for 2009

Can’t seem to find a good look for the rest of ‘09? Check out some of this year’s hairstyle & cut trends.

For Short to Midlength Hair:

Sure it sounds boring, but check out how these women sex it up. You can do the same by giving your hair a bit of a bed head style or adding some uneven fringes. You can also ask your stylist to give you layers, angles, or thinning the edges to soften the look.

For Short Hair:

The Pixie Cut/Crop

Not everyone can rock the pixie crop. What I’ve learned is that if you have an oval or heart shaped face, or one with a defined facial structure you may be able to pull it off much more easily than someone with a round face. The pixie crop is daring and bold. You reveal more of your face and neck, allowing yourself to hide behind nothing.

Good Wood in NYC is one of my favorite accessories stores online.  One visit to their online store and I was hooked. It features earrings, necklaces, and hand carved knuckle rings. Yezzir, I did say they have knuckle rings. It happens to be their stamp product. I just checked again and it looks like you can submit requests for a customized knuckle ring of your saying/design. These are all hand carved out of real wood by Kerri O’Connell (designer/founder) and her team. It’s so reasonably priced for something so unique, so original, so Hip Hop, and so fashionable. How can you possibly hate on these? Hey if you think you can rock them, then rock ‘em all the way. Here are couple of my faves…

Zion-I’s the Takeover Tour

A friend sent me these dates and thought I’d share it with any Zion-I fans. It’s the dates for their 2009 Takeover Tour. Zion-I’s music reminds me of college a while back. That’s how much music is a part of your life, when a single beat can bring a rush of memories back. My first encounter with Zion-I was when they performed at my college’s Multicultural Festival, and my group opened for them! I’ll never forget it, cuz I was amped as hell to meet them. If I could do it all over again…I would’ve worn a different outfit, haha. Anyway, here are the dates. The flier should take you to their site:

Just wanted to drop you guys a quick note to let you know that I have a few vinyl art pieces up for sale on my art site. Check them out. They would look great on your wall framed or unframed, especially for recording studios, urban themed rooms and living rooms.

Boots to Die For!

So my sister and I were looking around for some cool knee high boots and I found some that are just to die for! I gotta have them! When it comes to knee high boots, you have to have at least one and I choose to have it a brown color since I know it matches almost anything that I have (I have a lot of earth tones in my wardrope). If I wear it with jeans or a dress, it doesn’t look too dressed up or “hooker-ish.” You definitely don’t want to look hookerish with knee high boots, haha. Just remember these simple rules…no rhinestones, platform soles/heels, not too many buckles, no chains, and shiny patent leather material. Boots are comin back in demand since winter is around the corner. Here are two boots to die for!!

It’s the Apepazza Giotto in Cognac Leather. If I see you with them, be careful, I might get a little grabby. JK. Okay and here are some other boots that I think are nice for some casual wear. The left is a thigh high, um-hmm. And the right is a knee high.

I love Lauryn, but I ain’t seen nothin but bad pics from this concert. It’s so upsetting! I hear that her get up had to do with the theme of the concert. Anyway, I still love her though cuz I’m a huge huge fan. Below is a throwback photo that I love.

I think its a disgrace to say she is a female rapper. Khia (song “My neck, My back” and in Vh1’s Miss Rap Supreme) is just ridiculously annoying and not a great representation of female rappers. But I guess you get your good and your bad.

Sneaker Sale

Here are some sneakers I found on sale at DrJays.com and one super cheap one from Karmaloop.com. They usually have alot more for men. When it comes to buying sneakers, I like classic designs and fun colors. I like to choose sneakers that match more than one outfit. You don’t have to spend a ton on some super trendy sneaker. They get out of season just like clothes…but not as fast.

If there is that much savings…sometimes that means they have limited sizes, have had it for a while and are trying to get rid of it. But check it out anyway…it’s a pretty cool shoe.
